John (Jack) Creighton Jr. was formerly president and CEO of Weyerhaeuser Company and interim Chairman and CEO of UAL Corporation (United Airlines). He was also vice-chairman and director of Unocal Corporation. Jack joined Madrona as a strategic director in 1998. “I was attracted to Madrona for the opportunity to apply my skills and experience from large multi-national companies to high-tech start-up enterprises. I think there’s going to be a winnowing of the venture field based on performance, and I believe that Madrona will be one of the leading Northwest survivors.”
Leadership: Jack serves on the boards of Intrepid Learning Solutions, SaltChuk Resources Inc., the Ohio State University Foundation, the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America, previously as President, and the Washington State University Foundation, previously as chairman. He is currently co-chair of the World Trade Center in Seattle, advisory board member of The William D. Ruckelshaus Center and the civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army for the state of Washington.
Education: Jack received his undergraduate and law degrees from The Ohio State University and his MBA from the University of Miami (Florida).
