As Venture Partner, Wei helps identify new investments and provides strategic and operational advice to Madrona portfolio companies.

Wei Gao brings 20+ years of operating leadership across product, technology, and business operations. She was most recently the Chief Operating Officer at Hopin, the leading shared experiences platform that enables immersive and interactive connection from anywhere. Prior to Hopin, Wei was Vice President of Amazon Grocery and served as Technical Advisor to Jeff Bezos. In her nearly 16 years at Amazon, Wei delivered significant improvements to customer experience and business performance in eCommerce, Kindle, supply chain technologies, and Amazon Grocery. She drove significant business performance improvements, oversaw large-scale digital transformation, and built high-performing innovative organizations.

Education and Extracurricular

Wei is a Pacific Science Center Board member and is on the Board of Visitors at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science. In 2019, Wei received Asian American Corporate Leadership Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers and was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Tech” by the National Diversity Council.

Wei received her bachelor’s in finance from Nankai University and her master’s in information science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

When not in the office, Wei can be found cheering for the Sounders, enjoying a show at the local theater, or on the road in her RV.
