At Madrona, we love partnering with founders from their very early days of idea formation, and our commitment to this is further highlighted in our tight partnership with Madrona Venture Labs (MVL), the incubation arm of Madrona Venture Group.
We are excited about MVL raising $8M and to have led their most recent funding. For this next phase of the journey, the most experienced and successful operators are coming along as investors to help build companies, including Spencer Rascoff, former Zillow CEO; Elena Donio, former Axiom CEO; Elie Seidman, former Tinder CEO; Julie Larson-Green, former Qualtrics CXO; Court Lorenzini, co-founder DocuSign; Elissa Fink, former Tableau CMO; Erik Blachford, former Expedia CEO; Mike McSherry, Xealth CEO; Jon Gelsey, former Auth0 CEO; Chad Cohen, Adaptive Biotech CFO; and Ralph Pascualy, former Swedish Medical Group CEO. Learn more about it from Mike Fridgen, MVL CEO and Managing Director.
MVL will continue its very close partnership with the team at Madrona, including working with many of the Managing Directors and other investment professionals on individual companies that we spin out. For example, Steve Singh, former Concur CEO, is the co-founder and executive chairman of Stratify, an MVL spinout, that launched last year and a case study for this innovative new model.
Another example is Strike Graph, a Geekwire Startup-of-the-Year nominee and MVL spinout. MVL worked closely with Hope Cochran, former CFO of King Digital, who partnered to co-build Strike Graph. “As a founder you’re challenged to be an expert in almost everything. That is impossible. While I have strengths, the team at Madrona Venture Labs filled in my gaps. Strike Graph’s successful launch is due to their expertise, their support and their camaraderie,” said Justin Beals, Strike Graph CEO of Strike Graph. Hear more about his journey in a recent podcast with Hope Cochran, Managing Director at Madrona.
