Phoebe joined Madrona in 2026. She focuses on sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities across Madrona’s investment themes and supports the growth and strategy of current portfolio companies. Phoebe is particularly interested in security, developer tooling, and data.

Journey to Madrona

Before joining Madrona, Phoebe was a product manager at Microsoft and Databricks. At Microsoft, she focused on security and authorization, leading A/B experiments to create secure defaults for hundreds of thousands of customers. At Databricks, she focused on the data engineering developer experience, leading the 0-to-1 development of a new agentic offering for monitoring and debugging data pipelines.

Lessons learned

The most important thing you can do for your product is to consistently meet with customers. However, don’t always take what they ask for at face value. Dig into the underlying “why” to make sure you understand their pain and are actually building the right product to solve their problem. As you scale, validate those early qualitative signals with quantitative data to make sure the hypothesis holds true.

When she’s not in the office…

Phoebe can typically be found hiking, skiing, practicing Pilates, planning trips, exploring the PNW, and finding the best matcha in Seattle.

Noteworthy

Phoebe graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology (M&T) with degrees in engineering and economics. At Penn, she co-founded the Wharton Undergraduate Founders and Funders Association, an organization focused on reducing the gender gap in the startup and venture funding ecosystem. She also served on the M&T Student Board for four years and was vice president of the Hexagon Engineering Senior Society.

Insights

Phoebe on Madrona

“Madrona has consistently been ahead of the curve, seeing the shift toward intelligent applications and vertical agents years before they happened. There is a practice of finding the next bottleneck and imagining a world without it, long before it seems possible. It's paired with a real commitment to partnering closely with founders and making the Pacific Northwest a great place to build a company.”
