Today, we are excited to announce that Jeff Mills has joined Madrona as our new investor relations partner.
Jeff brings deep expertise to Madrona, having successfully built meaningful relationships with limited partners (LPs) and raised funds across a wide variety of asset classes.
Jeff was most recently managing director, fundraising and investor relations at Gryphon Investors. Prior to that, Jeff spent over 23 years fundraising for alternative assets, both in-house and as a super-powered placement agent. His breadth of experience in raising capital from both U.S. and international LPs spans a diverse set of asset classes, including venture capital, growth capital, management buyout, leveraged buyout, fund of funds, real estate, real assets (mining and timber), credit, direct lending, and nonprofits.
“I’m really excited to join Madrona and help with its continued growth and success,” said Jeff. “Having known and watched the firm for some time, its strategy and focused execution have produced an impressive track record of success and top performance. Madrona’s culture of working deeply with its founders and companies is incredibly impressive and resonates with my experience of how venture firms build not only portfolio companies but also generational firms.”
Jeff will be based out of Madrona’s Palo Alto office and will work closely with Madrona’s managing directors and limited partners. Madrona is investing out of Madrona Fund 9 and Acceleration Fund 3, which were raised in 2022 and total $690 million. This year, Madrona has already announced significant, positive outcomes for our portfolio companies: Rover.com’s $2.3 billion purchase by Blackstone, Jama Software’s $1.2 billion purchase by Francisco Partners, and Lexion’s purchase by DocuSign.
Jeff started his career in the U.S. Army, flying UH-1s (Hueys) and CH-47s (Chinooks) for seven years. He holds an undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from the Chicago Booth School of Business.
On the personal front, Jeff is very involved with the National Childhood Apraxia of Speech nonprofit organization and serves on its board. One fun fact about Jeff is that he can say the alphabet faster backward than forward.
Please join us in welcoming Jeff Mills to the Madrona team.
